more generous orthodoxy…

well, i finished a generous orthodoxy today. all in all a really good read. i think for the point he’s trying to make, i can agree with most of it. i think the way American Christianity has polarized and pitted itself against so much in our world and culture and really failed to step up to the challenges of loving and caring for the most needy in our world, McLaren’s points are well taken and much needed.

i do think the rub with some of it (coming from a good number of years under a very modern paradigm, and as someone in full time Christian work) is, “what do i do with all this, all this very unprogrammatic, obtuse, and philisophical approach to bringing the kingdom?” (outside of the obvious, day to day implications with me and my neighbors.)

that’s my big question i guess. what to do with it? that is the question of the day.
