Life Together…. pt. whatever, but i’m done

well i finally got ‘er done.
much better read this time around. only difficulties came with the prescriptions found in Chapter 2, The Day Together. Other than some of the seemingly legalistic admonitions to how that should be done and carried out, it is a powerful work.
i recieved some good balance to my troubles with that stuff from a fellow gcm pastor, wayne wager, who pointed out that mr. bonhoeffer came out of a german society dominated by nazi rules and order and certainly by the “german way.” Structure, rules and order were simply the way of things there and i guess it should be no suprise that the influence shows up in Life Together.
At any rate, great book. Would be a great text to do a members class on or to do a basics of community study on.
Hopefully over the next few days i can put some of the more powerful quotes and excerpts up here. Bottom line though, if you’re interested in Christian community lived out, you should read this book. Certainly it’s a classic and if nothing else provides ample material for discussion and formation of ideas as they relate to community.
So… Read it!
